Big changes this year

Since 2012, I’ve been homeschooling my kids. My son is 18 and about to enter the local community college for GED classes and some trade certification courses. My daughter is 16 and has started at one of the local high schools as a freshman. She should be a junior, but because of how we homeschooled she didn’t have a transcript for the school. Without a transcript, she had to begin as a freshman so she will be a year older than I was when she graduates. That’s fine. The school says she can graduate in 3 years providing that she gets all 24 of her core credits. She can do it. It’s the first time in a long time that I’ve had to go back to school shopping and when you’re on a tight budget as a single parent in a single income household and it’s the slow months at work, well, I’m feeling that financial pressure right now. I have gotten everything they needed though, but I might have to ask my church for help for October’s rent and I don’t like it. It’s hard to bite back your pride and ask for help. It should be their dad helping me, but whatever. I’ll speak to our bishop as see what he can do next Sunday.

It's no shame to ask for help. You will be fine. Thanks for the update on your children.

@acrogodess I know what you mean. I'm stubborn too; but sometimes you have to think about the rest of your family too!

I’ve always been really stubborn and want to do things myself. It’s really humbling when I have to admit that I need help.

@LindaOHio I know. I can’t expect my kids to ask for help if they need it if they never see me do so.

I'm sad to hear this. Have faith in God and be true to yourself. He will.definitely figure out a way for you.

I know that everything will be okay. I shouldn’t be so prideful anyway so maybe this is a good lesson for me to learn.

Thank you. My church is wonderful. I just really dislike having to ask for help. I know they will help me. I just have to ask.

I know that I will be fine. My stress is my own fault for being prideful, so perhaps this is a lesson for me.
