Some of the parents in my county are upset that some of the schools decided to not talk about 9/11 well that is really up to the teacher for the part as well as each individual school. I can understand the upper grades. But for the kids like mine ages 8 and under stalking about 9/11 can be scary.
We have talk about why we have an army, why we have policies and there are bad people in the world and some people do bad things but don’t mean to because they need help. So I can see being sensitive to how old a child is and what they might or might not understand.

Yeah I think they might not say it because some parents might get upset if they did and that would do more harm then good but like kids in 8th grade like me should most likely be able to handle it but you never know I guess.

I think it’s 5th or 6th grand but that really comes down to your state that you live in what the lesson plans are suppose to be. Really smell children easily get scared so if a teacher is going to talk about they might want to approach it a certain way as to to not scare them but more like inform. Some people do bad things that hurt other people or a lot of people where hurt o this day so we try to be respectful and pay them honor in remembering them.

Although September 11th held some very emotional moments, it is historic.
I would imagine that once a student is in a grade that teaches (recent) history, that this subject be taught.
Before that it is just to overwhelming to children, they have cannot being to understand how huge the events of that day were globally. I am an adult and I barely can comprehend it all of these years later.

Most recent closer to current times really depend on where you live in the US different states have a different cores and when things are talked about. I do see it being more aimed for middle school in up when concept of wars and such is easy to grasp. I know my kids 8,7, and 4 are a bit young for the whole 9/11 talk. So we discussed at home since K that wars have happens and we still have people fighting for what they think is right and to protect us. Stuff on own land is scary enough. Yesterday we had to talk about threats and school shoot and why we do lock down drills.

I'm glad there's internet and social media like youtube, you get to have reminders of the past and this terrible part of history.

The US had videos on it. But I think your missing the point of the discussion which is probably nto right for young kids since they are young and easily scared so the topic of 9/11 being or not being talked about can be really touch for them. That and they would not sit through those type of movies till middle school.

this is something that should be told to children at schools but yes, at an age when they can understand what really happened and can be shown some videos.

Yes, I agree. Approached at the right age where understanding what happened and how it happened. I know for my 8 and 7 year old I think it’s best we don’t talk about it directly. We have have had take about soldiers and wars. Also about some problem are just bad and do bad things and other times people do bad things because they need some kind of help.

I agree when a child is younger the subject needs to be broached with kid-gloves! I was taking care of a ten and eleven year old on 9’11 the events of that day were terrifying for them so we talked about it in a way they could understand!

Mine are still 8,7 and 4 it’s to early for this topic. If there teachers decide to not approach I think it is for the best. Because some firms the teachers just don’t know how to address with them younger ones without freaking make of the kids out.
