It is called "tick-induced mammalian meat allergy" or alpha-gal-syndrome, and can be life threatening. It is on the rise worldwide, especially in Australia and the USA.

It's good that the tick carrying the disease is not so widespread. Hopefully it can be wiped out before it becomes plentiful worldwide.
