Why do actresses get paid less than actors?

Actresses play a pivotal role in movies of the modern epoch. Still, justice is not done to them and they are often underpaid. It is high time that gender equality is established in the cinema industry.

Underpaid relative to their male counterparts I'd agree with but on the whole I'd say actors are massively overpaid

I wonder why actors/actresses get paid millions and those that do a lot of manual labor get paid a joke of a salary. Also wonder why actors/actresses turn down roles (even those they've been playing for years if it's a series) because the millions they get are not as high as they want them to be. And on that note, why are athletes paid millions? I think they are way overpaid as well.

@Mike197602 Like in baseball someone hits a ball with a stick and gets millions for doing it.
