Day 45
Promise 48, 49, 50
Exodus 33:12 And Moses said unto the LORD, “See, thou say unto me, ‘Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me.’ Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.
14 And he said, “My presence shall go with thee, and I will give you rest.”
15 And he said unto him, “If thy presence goes not with me, carry us not up hence.
16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? Is it not in that thou go with us? So, shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.”
17 And the LORD said unto Moses, “I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.”
Do you feel restless? Do you feel unimportant? Do people know who you are?
God told Moses he found grace in His sight, and would go before them to the Promised Land. However, because of their stubbornness, God told Moses, He would not go with them any longer, they were to go to the Promised Land on their own.
Moses pleaded with God and God listened to him, and told him, His presence would go with him, and He would give him rest. Then God said one more thing to Moses. He said He knew his name.
We all want people to listen to us. We all want favor on our lives. We all want a place to call our own. What we don’t expect, is that people know who we are. Yet, as we go through life, how we live and act goes before us and people start to associate our actions with who we are, and can identify us with a simple description.
God knew Moses by name. He chose him to lead His people to the Promised Land. He talked to Moses face to face.
As Christians, God knows your name. He promised to give you rest. It’s a rest felt in the soul when you know Jesus as Savior and Lord. When you know Jesus as Savior and Lord, God’s presence is with you at all times.
Colossians 2:9 For in him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but ye know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.
Does God know your name? Have you found rest in Him? Do you feel God’s presence with you everywhere you go? If not, you can. When you accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, He knows your name and will never leave you or forsake you. You can rest in Him because He gives you rest.
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (KJV)
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for knowing me as Your dear child. Let me know Your presence everywhere I go, as You lead me through this life. Let me know Your rest, and bring me to Your rest when I shall see You face to face. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
