I Love the Cheap Store!

There is a store in the slightly bigger town (The County Seat) I have talked about before on here. It is a grocery close out store...but of course they sell other items as well. I love that store because you never know what you will find. Not everything is a great bargain, and some things are more than you would pay elsewhere...plus they don't stock that much..but I can always find some good bargains. I found a large package of rubber bands for .35 the other day. I am always looking for rubberbands..and I was happy to have found them for a good price. They also had a large can of My Essentials Coffee for 4.95. It might be a little cheaper at Aldi. but I am not driving 45 minutes to Aldi to save a few cents on coffee. I got a good quality durable mouse for kitty for .88...and 300 count aspirin for two bucks. They usually have great meat prices as well. Like I said, not everything there is an amazing bargain..but you can often find something that is..Do you have a "cheap store" in your area?

We have Big Lots and Ollie's which sound like where you went. I use a lot of rubber bands to store things in the freezer. They seem to break really easy after being in the freezer.

No, I don't like Big Lots, it is wasn't Ollie's. It is called Shoppers Value. It is the second best store like that I have been to. There is one in the Shenandoah Valley called Sharp Shopper which is amazing.

We just had an Ollie's open here recently. That place was pretty neat, although it was packed with people when I stopped by, so I didn't get a chance to browse as much as I would have liked.

@snowy22315 I don't think any one store has the best prices on everything, but overall you have to admit Walmart is pretty cheap. Although, I hate that place so I try my best not to ever shop there.

I like The Country Seat shop very much indeed by your description. I like a cheap shop called Proper Job it sells cheap toilet paper, kitchen rolls and house cleaning materials. I love a shop called Home Bargains however it is a longer drive from. It is close to another cheap shop called BM Bargains. On the high street of my local town there is another BM Bargains. Close to the one there is Pound Land where many things are sold for £1.00. The British Heart Foundation sells cheap furniture. Much of what is sold is second hand. In my local town they have one second hand clothing shop where all there is £1.00 each.

@snowy22315 I was so happy when Home Bargains opened up. They sell cheap food, toiletries and home goods. BM Bargains is very pleasing too. I liked seeing the Pound Land begin selling cheap clothing.

@maximax8 Yes, you probably wouldn't want to get everything there...but certain things are simply too cheap not to buy.

It sounds like you have a lot of good stores to choose from there. Those that don't cost an arm and a leg.

I have Aldi at less than 2 miles from home, the other "cheaper" stores are across the border, in Italy, not very far, 5 to 8 miles from home.

That's great you were able to find bargains on things you need and use a lot. Dollar General is good when they have their clearance sales. I got a large bottle of Worcestershire sauce for 30 cents. It was a brand name too, not an off-brand.

If you have Family Dollar in your area, you should check in there too periodically. I have gone in there a couple of times when they had things on clearance..Two big cartloads and some in the fridge case too for like a .25 a piece. They were items that had just passed their expiration date by like a day. They were fine though.

@just4him Yes, Aldi is really good. You are right about the sodium...but as long as you don't eat a lot of it, and just sporadically, you should be OK.

@snowy22315 I don't buy food from those stores as most of it isn't on my food program and loaded with sodium. I've found Aldi is very good lately. I love their prices and their food is awesome! Great quality and most of it is non-GMO.

the cheap store in my area promises products of low quality. there is a mall that offers good products for the right prices. so it is okay. my husband is a member of this supermarket that offers everything for 50 percent off. the sale happens just twice a year. we.will do massive shopping by the end of sept

That's the thing some are very low quality and others are not. You have to buy what you feel comfortable with, but for most things..I don't see a reason to pay more. Clothes would probably be the exception, and meats, have to be of a certain quality to be good.

Places like that are great when you can find a good bargain. The main thing I always look at now though is expiration dates since we have a store around here that sells Sell by April 28th still now and swears the food is still good?

Grocery Outlet is like what you describe though now its not so cheap on most things. I also don't go there too often cause there is a whole lot of processed junk being sold in the store.

@snowy22315 Its an 80 per cent processed junk store. I pay more for produce at Safeway but I also get food that I can eat and that doesn't make me ill. Grocery Outlet is party food central.

We have a similar store called Grocery Outlet, they sell more than just groceries though and most things are priced low! We also have a 99 Cent story, A Dollar Tree and a Dollar General in the Town over who’s here is only about 4 miles from Old Town!

It sounds like some good bargain shopping there. I am not much of a fan of Dollar General, and they saturate this area, but ocassionally they have some good deals. Their Clover Valley Brand is usually priced well, but alot of their brand items are junk.

End of the season shopping at Walmart is usually pretty good. I would say this store I am talking about has Walmart prices beat on quite a few items.
