Perhaps, if one can let out a genuine burst of laugh or even a smile before, during and after work in a consistent basis, one has found a meaningful occupation or a place of work. However, working day after day in misery will eventually take a toll in one's health. Emotional and psychological stress usually defeat the body's physical defenses. Others are indifferent to their source of livelihood, they are neither happy nor sad. For them, work is just an economic necessity. They get their emotional fix somewhere else.

This is true. I know someone who is an officer in the bank, she gets hospitalized because of the stress she goes through at work.
