Is life difficult for the islanders?

Islanders can hardly enjoy the facilities available for the people of a mainland. I have visited Andaman and Nicobar Islands and was shell-shocked after learning that Port Blair does not have a lot of lights. Is it the case with the majority of the islands?

I have visited mainland India and haven't visited these islands. I imagine they are quite poor islands where the people don't earn much. I am shocked that Port Blair doesn't have many lights in the night time. I think in a place like that shopping is limited. I know that these islands don't many tourists. Sometimes bad weather makes these islands damaged.

Australia is an island with all amenities. I have been to Melbourne and Brisbane multiple times and those two cities are always illuminated.
