I have been thinking and Grandad a lot. Probably because I have been reading his books and his poetry. I was seven when he passed away and I will always be grateful to my father for the way he handled my choices for the funeral.
He took me to the church and showed my all the flowers and Grandad. It was just the two of us in the room. He had me touch him so that I would understand the part of him that had loved was not there. His spirit was now in heaven and with family. Someday I would join him there.
He explained that at the funeral many would cry and they would tell stories about Grandad. He gave me the choice of staying at home with an aunt or going to the funeral. I stayed home. They did an audio recording of the funeral and have that. I am so thankful it all happened that way.

I will be forever grateful for that gift he gave me that day. I think it helped to prepare me for many other situations.

@Writingghost You were blessed, I never got that. Losing my Mom at 14, I just kind of followed everyone else.

He must been such a compassionate person. That was a great way to make you understand the circumstance that he is going through.
