Christmas in September

By tradition, Christians celebrate Christmas in December. Their houses are well-decorated with colorful Yuletide decors, toys, lights, and gifts. Christmas songs filled the air. Children and adults sing traditional carols like Silent Night, Jingle Bells, among others.
This is the common scenario I may see or experience during December. Children in school have their Christmas party, gift-giving (exchanging gifts), Christmas tableau. Adults have their own separate party. They have it with lots of drinks, singing, and merry-making.
Midnight mass culminates the Christmas celebration. People in all walks of life go to the Church and stay in the Church until midnight. They wait until the Christmas eve. They go home after greeting each other. At home, they eat the food they prepared for their "Media Noche".
What about Christmas in September?
On the first day of September, as I wake up I overhear Christmas songs played in my neighbour's radio. Upon hearing it, I am confused. "Do I hear it right?" I ask myself. Imagine "It's Christmastime in the city." What happens?
As I make a shopping in our local mall, I have already seen Christmas decors getting ready. The mall workers are putting up wrapped gifts at the center. This reminds the shoppers that Christmas is near. When in fact, it is about 115 days more to go before Christmas Day.
This scenario breaks the tradition of Christmas. Businessmen, traders are taking advantage of Christmas. They commercialize it for their benefit. The people are also patronizing it.
Christmas in September is fake. It breaks the Christmas tradition.

I do agree with you. Premature Christmas would weaken the true spirit of Christmas.

@HazySue yes commercial thoughts, Shopping thoughts are what engulfs everyone. Lord Jesus would not be liking it, but people do not bother much.

I also find it corny to play Christmas songs in September.

But radio DJs are already playing Christmas songs on the air especially during signing on early in the morning.

I understand the point you highlight is quite valid. It should be near December but that's a way to boost sales and thus no one minds it.

Well I think it is more common in our country. Many are taking advantage of it to lure them to buy early christmas items. I have no problem with the songs being played on since Xmas songs are nice to hear on and the early decorations being placed on is also tolerable for me. But the over commercialisation of the event is what is troubling me. They should not use this event to lure buyers to buy their wares for Christmas.

So early for Christmas?
Well here in India, there are not too many Christians, but traders and Businessmen through all kinds of media have made it popular.
There is no religious spirit, nobody really cares about what Jesus stood for, and it is all commerce, and at the expense of human spirit at times.
Yet who cares? Well very few folks- may be you, me or a few more.

@Nakitakona but for many, Christmas has come to be associated with the commercial aspects only.

You're right. Christmas toys, gifts, anything that is sold in the market have no value at all. Jesus Christ is the central figure of Christmas not those commercial commodities in the guise of Christmas.

Early birds catch worms. That's their business slogan.

I never do anything, until December. The longer they stretch out the Christmas season, the more money these businesses will rake in! And of course, it's getting worse as time passes by. Jesus Christ is getting shoved out of the picture, the only 'genuine purpose' for the holiday, in the first place!
