It's been rainy season now in my place. I like the rainy season most. It is my favourite. It comes after dry hot season of the year. And since I live near the forest, I will surely get a lot of ear wood mushrooms soon. They usually grow on wet branches of trees. My family like the mushrooms very much. We usually have them in our soup, stir fry, or other dishes.
Wood ear mushrooms are known for being low in fat and calories but rich in protein and other nutrients. A wood ear mushroom is a particularly good source of the B vitamins. I'm sure they have other vitamins too.
Have you ever tried this kind of mushroom? What do you think about it?

You're so lucky that those mushrooms are growing on your trees. We also live near the forest but it seems these kinds of mushroom don't grow there, do you know what kind of trees or wood it grows into? Nevertheless, it's still pretty common to add wood ear mushrooms in vegetables, especially for Chopsuey here in our country and it adds to the flavor. One bite of it along with other vegetables accompanied by it feels as if you're in a peaceful forest, the sun showing its rays passing through the springtime trees, nature just coexists with you. Ahhh, now I'm craving for some chop suey with wood ear mushroom as the main ingredient...

@Kitty_Lover Not all kinds of mushrooms, egad... Some mushrooms are poisonous, be careful. Haha. But yeah, indeed, the edible ones combined with other flavors just enhances the whole plate to another mushroomy glory! There are also sorts of mushrooms that are blended into coffee which adds to the flavor and nutritional value. I love those more as I'm a coffee drinker. Do you drink coffee with mushrooms?
And thanks for telling me where those grow. Sadly, I still cannot find its kind near our forest. But there are other kinds of edible mushrooms. I don't know what it's called but still yummy.

@GopherDanny That's interesting to know that people blend mushrooms into coffee. I'm sure the mushrooms give more flavor to the coffee. I've never tried it as I never knew if it's available in my place or not. I hope I can try it someday.

It's quite familiar in my place. I think it's only available in tropical country like south east Asia. I like it's taste and texture.

Those which grow in the woods or soil are usually edible, but I can't say that all of them are safe to be eaten.
