Would You Go?

I watched an interesting doc about Mars and the possible colonization as early as 2023 today. It would take about 240 days to reach Mars. They say that it would be a one way trip because a return trip would be very expensive and wouldn't happen for at least 400 days. I am such a curious person I would love to set foot on Mars and be a part of its beginning colonization. But, at nearly 70 and with some health concerns I am not really up to it. If I was 25 or so I might just get my name on the list. What about you? Would you go? One interesting topic scientists discussed on the show was that they have done some methane gas testing, with the help of the Rover, and the results revealed that levels of the gas increased in the summertime and went down in the winter time. So, that tells us that there could be living organisms on the planet.

I don't think I would, but I wouldn't mind watching live webcams (if possible) of those who did go... Just to see how they harvested food etc.

@celticeagle Exactly. Especially if they intend to bring live stock of any sort up there. I am not sure if that would be a viable option though.

I am 58 years of age. I would not want to go Mars since I belong on Earth to write some nice stories.

I'm about ten years older than that and belong right here with my family. I am just so curious. I hope they have Mars After Dark like on Brothers.

@celticeagle I am curious myself to see if there is live on Mars or is it a myth to sell books.

It'd be nice to go "home" again... I think that's where people originated until they saw how they were destroying their home planet and built rocket ships to go to earth and start over again. (Yeah, I read too much science fiction when I was younger.)

I'd be worried about my heart health. Being in space for 240 straight days while getting to Mars can weaken your heart. The heart is a muscle. And it would get weaker in a ship for 240 days where their's no gravity.

They should be transforming the planet now so it will be ready for people. I would not want to go those first people might not even live long.
