my friend sent this to me from facebook,  so I thought I would re share it with you all here.. as I'm sure like me..., some of you can relate to it ... Don't  get me wrong...  I like my mobile phone/camera/ mini computer... and all it allows me to do.., but...  I also think,  in some areas, it has taken over too much,  and people spend too much time on their phones... txting people,   but not actually talking or interacting with them... I'm lucky/ blessed... I enjoyed my childhood.., we lived in the countryside,   and I  enjoyed many days of adventure and play, like that depicted in the picture above...

Relate much. That was so much of fun and enjoyment. Today, kids are more on there gadget than doing physical activities.

Yeah, my childhood is full of fun too... Most traditional street games are gone now.

We used to play hide and seek all summer until it got dark. Kids do not even play outside that much anymore.

'tis most sad to see such. horrified that my eldest 2 grands've been sucked 'nto this vortex. prolly best they live far 'way. i grew'p out'n the sticks. 'twas a chore to gimme 'ndoors. 'lways out'n mother natures playground. didn't 've many folks 'round 'xcept when the kin'd come to visit. most rare to see young'uns outdoors these days. folks wonder why there'd be so many mental issues with our youth...

I was rarely in the house when I was a kid. Eating and sleeping was pretty much all I did indoors. I don't necessarily blame kids these days. A lot of them have been encouraged to use these devices from a very early age because they're an easy way for patents to shut them up.

@sueznewz2 I live in hope there will be a backlash against this sort of behaviour. Maybe the next generation will rebel against excessive use of technology. I won't hold my breath though.

There is a time and a place when the smartphones are needed even in today's day and age. We still will call or visit when its appropriate, our lives often lead to the need for a text over a call. I grew up on a large family farm, our black rotary dial phone was mounted on the wall in the kitchen, quite a difference from the looks of a kitchen in today's home. We were too busy outside riding our bikes, our mini bikes, tobogganing in the winter as well as skating on the nearby ditch.

We were healthier, we were happier, we learnt a lot more being active. I am glad I am no more young.

I agree with you. I grew up without all the electronic gadgetry too and I'm glad I did. It's much better to interact and have fun than to worry about the next text you'll receive and need to send.

I do agree with you there as it was great to be outside so much when I was young as well. It is such a change to what kids are doing these days- activity is no longer an option to young people.
