Mini Mushrooms

Norwich, England

Having seen my mega mushroom which I posted recently, I was going around the garden trimming back hedges and bushes which are now beginning to die off before the winter. I cam to my lilac and thought I'd had a large animal in my garden who'd decided to have a poo underneath the bush. However, having looked at it more closely I discovered that it's a most extraordinary clump of fungi! Has anyone got any idea what it is ... and is it edible?

I've lived in the country all my life and lived in my current house for over 20 years and I haven't seen anything like it either.

I have no idea of what kind of mushroom they are. I'm not sure if they are edible too. By the way, they do look like animals' poop.
