Criminals Are Responsible For Their Own Actions

I've never had issues with the law before. But I've met some people who have. Many criminals come from messed up backgrounds, such as growing up with abusive parents, for example. And when criminals become adults, a lot of them will blame the fact that they've broken the law and have harmed others on their background, the disfunctional family they grew up in, and their abusive parents. Psychotherapists say that if someone was brought up by abusive parents, it's not the person's fault that they were abused. That's their parents fault. However, if the person commit crimes as an adult and purposely harm others, that's not their abusive parents fault. That's their fault. So if a criminal who comes from a screwed up background goes into counseling, they should know that the therapist isn't going to let them blame the fact that they have a criminal record on their abusive parents. You make your own choices by the time you're past childhood, after all.

People have a hard time with accountability it seems. We can't always help what happens to us, but we can control our response to it. I was taught to take responsibility for my actions, and not try to pass the blame.

I will say it all depends on the person and their situation. Just my opinion.

When i hear about this it makes me think of the horror movies i watch when the killer's had messed up childhood. Who know's what their mental state is like? I don't know because i am not in their shoes to understand. All they can do is offer them counseling etc.
