Splitting a Check After a Date?

There was this article I recently read online about how a man sent an invoice to a woman who he went out with on a dinner date. Apparently, after the date, the woman just stopped talking to the man, and 'ghosted' him as the article says which led me to wonder - what would you do if your date didn't go as expected with a person you are attracted to? Would you split the bill? And if you're a woman, would you pay half the bill if you don't seem attracted to the other guy and he suddenly asks you to split the bill? As for me, as a man, if I am the one who asks a lady out for dinner and the date doesn't go as planned, i'll still pay for the whole bill. I guess it's what you can call a gentleman's code. I think each individual is governed by their own principles. So as for this article, I think there's nothing wrong with asking your date to split the bill, but sending an invoice after the date just seems petty and unmanly. What do you think? Here's the link to the article:

I agree with the gentleman's code. You spent for the date - that's past tense. Period.
