Tick Tock Against The Clock

Tick tock
Time is racing against the clock
A to-do list undone
Leaves no time for any fun
Schedules during the week to keep
Not enough time to get decent sleep
With each month, adds a year
Our purpose at times, seems so unclear
Keeping up with the days
Can sometimes make us lose our way
From baby to teen
Brings bottles, clothes, and dishes to clean
From adulthood to senior moments
Dashes in-between, seem unimportant
Hustling and bustling to make our mark
Stumbling and wandering as if we're in the dark
We must embrace the calendar as a dear friend
It will keep us focused to the end
Appointments listed on a dime
Meetings to attend right on time
Seasons come, seasons go
From spring flowers, to brisk fallen snow
Birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays to remember
Starting in January, and ending in December
Children grow
Adults on the go
Tick tock
Can you hear that clock?
The days are limited as we age
Less to fill within it's page
Then time comes when we have no more to add
The weeks are empty, they look rather sad
For we all have to one day slumber
The final countdown becomes just a number
Our calendar says it's last amen
But for the rest of the world, it starts all over again
