House guest without warning

Ok this is how my weekend went early Saturday morning I get a phone call saying I’m in Denver, Colorado can you have someone pick me up in Grand Junction, Colorado at 5:30 pm. Of course I go and pick this person up even though they showed up without a proper warning or a slight heads up. I had to attend a event with my husband which was planned prior to this surprise visit, so I ended up taking the surprise guest with us. Luckily everyone was understanding about us being late and having and extra person with us. Now it’s Monday around 6 pm and this surprise guest says oh yeah I need to be back in Grand Junction at 2:15am for the bus so I can get back to Denver so I can catch a flight back home mind you I don’t drive (for medical reasons) and my husband has to be at work at 7am. I made it happen but my question is would I have been wrong to never have picked the person up in the first place? Shouldn’t people warn you or at least make you aware that they are visiting from out of state? Or should I just be happy that someone decided to up and visit out of the blue?

Me, I would have told them take a cab please, I can't pick you up or take you back. I don't drive anyway and no car too, but if it did happen, I'd tell them please take a cab, for I just can't pick you up or drive you back for your flight. Of course it depends who they are too, I suppose.

@MochaGoddess
It's very far drive either way. I hope things work out better now.
