Do YOU Do This Too?? Or am I the Only One??

Meow, meow, meow, meow...

If you look closely, you can see a cat looking through the window in the photo above. A stray cat to be exact. And to be even more exact, he is a spoiled stray cat He jumps up on the air conditioner from the outside, in order to get my attention in the house. I usually sit just a few feet from the window. And he knows it... The earliest I have ever heard him meow is around 6:30 am when I am already up. Normally at that time, he comes to the screen door and peeps in. The regular door is kept open due to heat and the screen is a security screen, which is no doubt stronger than the cheap, hollow, wooden door. He usually only comes to that screen in the middle of the day when the food I put outside runs out and he's hungry. We keep that window open all night also due to the heat. This time I heard the meowing when it was dark. Glancing at the clock I could see it was about 4am. It was also thundering with lots of lightning and my phone went off about 3 times with flash flood warnings. I thought poor kitty might be scared, so I went to the door. (he is smart and always sees where I am going and runs around to the door to meet me) He was meowing like he was hungry so I put food outside on the wooden plank next to our door - which we use as a makeshift boardwalk (get it??) when the lanai floods from the rain. The lanai was not flooded, but I did not want to go in the yard at 4am in the pitch dark to put the food in another location. I went back to bed. Close to 7 am, I got up for the day to be met with the continued storm and power flickering off and on. Several cats were meowing at the door. Still thinking they were scared because food was still on the plank, I opened the door to let them feel welcome to come inside (which is against the rules here where we rent) They immediately come in and start scouting the place. I then walked outside to get the watering can to water the plants underneath the lanai covering and they follow me. This is near one of the places I feed them. I realize for certain now that they are not in the least bit scared of the storm. They simply want to know what other "goodies" I might have which I am keeping from them. Maybe we should stop giving them left over bones from our meat and skin from our fish etc. And keep with only the dry food which we always supply a plenty. I understand desiring treats, but at 4am in the pitch dark? Did I mention my bed is directly beneath that window where he meows as if the world is coming to an end?? =^.".^=

Oh yes, I clearly see kitty. And no, you are not the only one. I do this sort of thing all the time. I can't tell how many times I've been adopted. It has been numerous times. I've stopped counting after 5! Pets are my passion and I have a really hard time saying no. So therefore, I proudly wear my 'Crazy Cat Lady' tee shirts all over town.

@WriterRuth It doesn't happen very often at all but we occasionally get a 'gift' from a beloved kitty.

The same thing happened with me. Saw the kitty at the dumpster each day in our parking lot and took her in.

@WriterRuth They know who feeds them so maybe they wanted to know more about you too by going inside your home. If you have a lot of dry food then that is good to feed them.

We have one stray cat that often comes to our house. He gets entry to the hole below our window. We do welcome him and let him partake some of the foods of Garfol, our pet male cat.
