Devil child has turned Angelic.

Finally my grand daughter likes me. Haha it has taken a year but slowly and surely she has changed from being the most nightmarish child into a loving little girl. We have been looking after her more recently in preparation for her mums return to work. Next month she will be going and it was getting quite concerning to us and her mum about what she should be doing. Over the past two weeks she has become more settled and yesterday we had her for the whole day.
Yes she cried initially when my daughter left her but she soon forgot and played and entertained and slept for a nap. I cooked her lunch and she kept coming out to the kitchen to see what I was doing. She ate all her food I cooked pasta and cheese sauce. She also had some custard and mashed banana I made for her. That is an almighty change as at one time she would not even look at me.
I had taken the stance of backing off and not even acknowledging her which may have helped, who knows. I have to say she has been the most difficult child to crack. I have never experienced anything like it before.
So patience has finally paid off. I was really pleased yesterday with the changes over the last week but yesterday was the best day so far.
She made us all laugh because she got her mums car keys out of her bag grabbed my hand and walked me to the door and pointed to the lock! I think she had had enough of me!

@garymarsh6 I wonder why she was so hostile when she was a young baby.

@LadyDuck I don't know. I have always been very kind to her like I am to the others. I think she did not want anything to do with me she only wanted her mother. She did not even like her father or brother at one time. This is not the time not to like men When she is older she should be wary of them!

We can't get over the transformation. I guess she has finally resigned herself to the fact I am here to stay! Early days yet but still a massive improvement!

Lol, she was telling you to get in your car and go? Ha ha. Kids are so real and honest.

@WriterRuth writer Ruth writes the truth :-)
Welcome to mylot, already 200 activities on the very first day :-)
That is a lot for me.
Kids do tell their truth. They don't know how to lie.

@garymarsh6 Or, maybe she wanted you to drive her somewhere? Or share her knowledge of how to use keys with you. Heck, the possibilities are almost endless.

Did you show the girl how friendly you were with her mom ?
The youngsters learn by examples from the grownups. For example, if you and her mom gave many hugs, and play like you wanted the girl to play with you, the girl would learn to play with you and hug you from her mom.

@garymarsh6 she looks like a little princess. Just give her the right example, don't try to hug her or play with her if she doesn't want. Offer her maybe a toy to play with, maybe a fruit to eat...
She will grow up and get used to you.

OH yes of course but this girl is somewhat difficult she was the same with my son in law and my grandson. Now she just pushes my grandson away! She only lives for her mother at the moment but seems to be changing a bit now. It has only taken a year!

Children are full of surprises. Good that she stayed so long and kept you busy
I think she discovered that you too have an angelic side and it is safe to be with you.

I have absolutely no idea. In the summer she would cry but give me a kiss which made us all laugh! Real tears though not just being stroppy! I think I know what it was all about. She hated males her dad and her brother included. She is tolerant now up to a point!

Arr bless you. I am sure that she is going to be a real great one to tease this time next year. Let the fun begin. The older girl just rolls her eyes and I think Harrison is beginning to get me now so I am not as effective as I have previously been.

She's precious, that's so darn funny! My granddaughter would never stay with us, even for fifteen minutes. Everything was her 'mama', nobody else even existed Now, she talks our ears off and follows us room to room.

@Hannihar Because she only wanted her mother. No one else! We see her several times a week and from November when her mum goes back to work we will be looking after her most days!
