Finally finished reading the classic that every other person in the world seemed to have read already.
I won't write a synopsis of this memoir in this post because you can easily look it up on the web, but wow. How can a book be so painful, wonderful, depressing and funny to read all at the same time? I don't think I've read any other book that gave me such a roller-coaster of feelings like this one.
You would have to read this book yourself to know what I mean. I haven't watched the movie yet, but from the reviews I've read, it seems like a movie worth watching.
Have you read books that gave you very mixed feelings? What was the last book you read that you thought was really, really powerful?

I don't know what book you're talking about. I have never read any book so far except the New Testament.

Then you should probably check it out. It won the Pulitzer Prize.

The book is one of my all-time favourites. So many mixed emotions. I'm sure you must be very familiar with a lot of the descriptions in the book.

I have to admit it took me many pages before I could get used to his style of writing, haha. I'd like to watch the movie too.

Overall, I enjoyed reading it too. No wonder it won the Pulitzer Prize!

I don't read books of that genre but that sounds like a very sad ending!

I haven't, but from the reviews I've read it seems like the movie is just as good.

The movie isn't bad, but the book was definitely better!
Oh, wow! I usually lose the name of a book soon after I read it. I guess that's what happens when I read so much. (I'm still averaging a book a day, although I have switched to reading ebooks mostly now. I can't get rid of all the paper and ink books I have as it is. Libraries here are refusing to accept more physical books because they are talking about closing since most people here have gone to ebooks.)
Oh, I do have a funny story to tell you... I'm so used to reading ebooks that when I was reading a paper and ink book last week, I kept tapping the edge of a page and thought something was wrong with it because it didn't turn the page for me... I reached down to restart the book and only then realized I was reading a paper and ink book.

Glad to know you enjoyed the book too! And omg that story about you tapping the edge of the book is just hilarious!!
I tried reading ebooks, in fact I did finish reading a few, but I just can't seem to make that permanent switch to ebooks, or at least not yet. Ebooks are popular here too but not to the point that libraries are closing because of that. I think if it ever happens, it would be many, many years from now.
