Song of the Day: Go Rest High On That Mountain

On February 13,1997, our friend Neal Abernathy and his Twelve Year Old Son we’re brutally murdered in their home in Hercules, I had just turned nineteen a couple of months before and before that Neal has given me my first laptop this was an expensive machine at the time, but he had said as a writer I was going to need a computer, sadly about a year or two after the murdered, the laptop was stolen, leaving me heartbroken because it was a gift from our friend who had since been murdered.
I remember the shock of reading about the murder, the constant phone ringing as plans were made, funerals and memorials planned, and just trying to be there for Sue, I remember Neal’s sister singing Go High On That Mountain somehow mustering the strength to do so.
I remember giving Sue my condolences and comforting her or at least trying too and giving her a 5 by Seven Senior Pic I had graduated just months before, and she had seen the pic and asked for a copy!
I remember the pain of knowing someone intentionally took the life of a bright twelve year old boy who given the chance could have been something great, I remember feeling the loss of a man who gives you a computer that at the time probably cost close to $5k!
I remember knowing that this just didn’t happen to other people!
And I remember this song...
Music video by Vince Gill performing Go Rest High On That Mountain. (C) 1995 MCA Nashville #VinceGill #GoRestHighOnTheMountain #Vevo #Country #VevoOfficial

This is one rare moment I am happy I mylot. You have just brought a song that makes me want to cry. I start missing my dog, I remember his face :-(
I feel sad for you, you please stay strong. I don't know why your friend and his son got murdered. We as a humanity will need probably some more time until we learn to do better for each other. For the memory of your friend, I can suggest that when you finish your book, write down "in memorial to Neal Abernathy who was a good friend and was murdered in the middle of his life. R.I.P"

Thank you so much, yes he was a good man, and his young son could have been anything had he been giving the Chance!

@Michellekidwell how did he become such a good family friend ?
Were you a writer back in 1997 already ?
Maybe you remember things you wrote back then ?

It's hard to let that go. I don't think I will ever heal from the loss of my sister.

@Michellekidwell Thank you for your kindness. I don't know that some things ever really heal, but they seem more distant sometimes.
