Earthquake in the South

Looks like my country in the island of Mindanao had experienced a 6.7 magnitude and most people had to leave the building.
But what I don't understand is the person who were on the second floor. They didn't bother going down and even hide under the table. If that was more than that they would have died.
And they always spout the end of the world when ever this happens. It's a natural movement of plates under us.
I wonder what happened to those quake drills we've been practicing.
Then some one gave a fake warning about a Tsunami..

Good thing it did not happen during school, office and rush hours or else more might have gotten hurt. Since it happened in a quite evening there is little chance we would see if all the preparations are really effective. End of the world will not happen due to an earthquake in my opinion.

Hello @louievill I think most schools already have their Earthquake drill, the problem is will they be able to apply it once it really happens. I agree that it was better off happening at night.

Well it is still very scary for you or anyone experiencing this. I can't believe someone would issue a fake tsunami warning--- really? Things are bad enough.

Hello @MarymargII Not the first time some one spread a fake message, I'm sure they would have had their karma after this.

Hello @thelme55 Yes, at least it's not strong. We don't have the strong structure Japan has.

I think the drill tells that during the quake you are not supposed to run immediately but dock under tables first before evacuating the premises. Running during a quake may prove to be more dangerous since you may be hit by falling debris around.

@Letranknight2015 That’s true when you go with the commotions around you will likely be hurt along the way.

Hello @rsa101 Or bump into others with out even looking. Specially if it's a 9.0 and those electrical wires outside could hit you.
