Our guinea pig died today

Last night we noticed that our guinea pig didn't eat her food, and she stayed in the same corner of the cage. She seemed very weak. This morning we called the vet as soon as they opened and we got an appointment this afternoon. I held her while we were driving. She fell and she couldn't get up on her own. The rest of the time she didn't move. When we got to the vet, we went to the waiting room. Her situation got even worse. The secretary took us to a room and told us that vet would arrive in a moment, but when the vet arrived our guinea pig was already dead. It wasn't a big shock , she was old and she lived longer than any of the other guinea pigs we have had, but it was still sad. I will miss her.

Oh, I'm sorry. Did she die of old age?

@louievill Yes, I think so. Some of them live longer than others. It also depends if they get sick or not.

@kepweng maybe no 2 are the same, just like people, some live long lives and others shorter.

Thank you. Yes, it is painful to see the empty cage. We still have two rabbits, but she was our last guinea pig. I will miss her

Yes, I think so, she was old. I am sad but also happy that she lived as long as she did. We adopted her when she was couple of years old.

I have read that the average life span of a guinea pig is between 4 and 8 years. We adopted our guinea pig 5 years ago, and I don't know exactly how old she was now, but probably 7 or 8. Her name was Mia.

Thank you. That is true. I have tried it many many times, but it never gets easier. We still have two rabbits left, and I would like to buy a couple rabbits more, but not right now.

I also think they are cute. I have always liked them. She was very ill, but I am happy that she lived many years. We adopted her and she lived with us for 5 years.
