Getting rid of stuff

My life really took a huge turn around the past couple of months. I got my settlement from my accident a little over two years ago and I had to do some fast changes. I am still trying to get things worked out.
Due to all of this I decided that I was tired of having so much stuff in my apartment that I started getting rid of a lot of things. I asked my two sons what they wanted and what was left I took up to the center where I live and set it out on the tables that they use for donations. I am happy to see that all of it found a new home.
Have you ever felt that way? Like you have too much stuff that you really don't need?

About every 4-5 years, I go on a major cleansing spree, and get rid of tons of stuff. I am about due for that to happen again. I guess with us all being in lockdown, it's a good time for me to sort through everything in the house and then decide what I want to keep or get rid of. The only bad part is it will be hard to get rid of things right now due to the virus lockdown, Might just have to pile it all up in a corner somewhere to get rid of later when the lockdown is lifted.

@moffittjc They will be there waiting for you. I am anxious for it to get warm enough so I can put my vegetable plants outside.

@velvet53 I started doing that over a week ago before I got sick, so that will still be waiting for me to finish once I start feeling better!

so glad ya got that settled, hon. schtuff like that tends to weigh'n ya when prolonged.
i'd love to de-clutter this place. more outdoors than in. the hubs's a hoarder. we downsized once, which 'twas brilliant. took him less'n a month to bring more 'ndoors. takes me all day jest to clean the dinin' room coz 'f all the 'schtuff'' which needs more'n a dustin'. doesn't bother him none, coz he doesn't clean.

Nice that could share the things you had with others. How are you enjoying the simpler life?

@velvet53 That was how I felt as I started. Some stuff I just kept moving and was tired of it.

@wolfgirl569 It gets old keeping stuff that we really don't need. I am amazed at the room I am making.

We have a mountain of a pile of stuff that we don't really need but my pack rat wife would be mad if I clean the other bedroom.

@Alexandoy I just get tired of feeling like I am so cluttered here. I am finishing many craft projects so that is helping also.

Yes, it is always a relief to get rid of stuff you just don't need anymore. I unloaded a bunch of ties a year or two ago, sad thing is I still have a bunch. I wear a Snoopy tie and or a Christmas tie maybe once a year. The rest are going this week.

I feel good when I can get rid of stuff. They are going to do some remodeling on the apartments here some time this year so I am going through stuff (Spring cleaning). I already started packing things up cause they want our apartments empty. I will do a post on it some day.

@JamesHxstatic Only for a week at the most then we have to bring everything back. What a pain that will be.

I love freeing up space and I am at it again. I took on a part time job so I haven't been on the computer much for quite awhile. It did me good to get away from things that I was doing on the computer and now maybe I can really get back into it.
How are things with you? And yes it has been a long time.

Every day of my life. Tote after tote after tote. This year we have begun the process of tackling some of that, starting in the basement and next will be the garage.
It's hard to let go of some things even though they are tucked away and you never go seeking after them. But it is what it is.

That's my weakness. I don't know what to discard and what to keep.

Absolutely - I am in the midst of a massive decluttering project right now. I've taken at least a dozen boxes to the thrift store so far, and I have sold a few things on eBay and at the secondhand book store.

I first have to go through all the stuff and see what is useful for me. I just started cleaning, and I found an old pair of glasses that I really liked! I put them on and they fit and I can still see with them! So now I don't need to buy a new pair that I was thinking of doing, so I could have a spare pair for computer use. So yes, it is useful to go through your stuff!!

@lifecoachjerusalem I have been known to do that myself. I hunted for a box for about 30 minutes today and I had just seen it yesterday.

@velvet53 But I don't like to clean too fast, then I don't remember where I put the important things and then it is a mess again as I start to look for it again!!
