Would you be willing to love someone who is a mess and eventually see him or her successful because of you?

Sometimes, we tend to give up right away. Most especially when the tough gets going. We decide to just leave or end a relationship because our partner doesn't seem to show some effort or isn't successful. But in the end, we also realize that it shouldn't be that way... because genuine love is being there for that person, no matter what your life brings. Be it joyous or sad, you should be the first and even be the last person he or she could lean on or run to. What's your take on this? Would you be willing to be there for your partner, be it your spouse, girlfriend or boyfriend until the end, irregardless of whatever circumstances? Has your relationship put to the test in situations wherein you need to choose if you should leave or not, give up or not yet you decide to just stay?
