Baked a Chocolate Cake

Every now and then I get in a baking mood. Today, after all of my laundry, helping my neighbor, and other things were done, I decided to bake a cake.
Cake mix of course. Chocolate with cream cheese frosting. One of my favorites. The last cake I baked, I cut the recipe in half. That was during the summer. But I went for it today. A full cake. Only one layer in the photo, but there are two cooling. I think it will go away pretty quickly.
Anything with cream cheese frosting is a favorite. The house smells so good right now. The patio doors are open and the breeze is coming through. The cats are loving the wind. The rain had stopped for now but it just got very cloudy. More rain will fall soon.
And I watched part of the Oklahoma football game. Cannot believe they lost to Kansas State. Oklahoma was at #5.
Back to enjoying the smell of the cake baking. Brings back memories. My Mom always loved to bake. Enjoying the day.

The smell of a baking cake definitely brings back memories for me too! My mom was always baking cakes, pies, brownies and cupcakes. Our house always smelled so good!
I watched the Oklahoma game yesterday. Kansas State definitely put a whooping on them, although Oklahoma almost came back at the end. I also enjoyed watching Notre Dame fall last night too. Now, if somebody could just beat Ohio State...

@CarolDM No offense to Jalen Hurts, because he is a great QB, but OK was overrated, because they play in a weak conference. I think Ohio State is also overrated, but for some reason the poll voters think they are the greatest thing to ever walk the earth. And they do this every year. With the exception of Clemson, no other team across the country can match up against the powerhouses of the SEC

Yes those sweet memories that make us smile along the way. Priceless.
I could not believe the Oklahoma game. I was actually rooting for OK since I am still a huge fan of Jalen Hurts. But they are strong competition now. Ohio State is not on our schedule.

@moffittjc I will agree to disagree about Hurts. But many are overrated. The polls don't mean a lot to me.

That cake sounds so yummy. Cream cheese frosting is a favorite here too.
We had baklava yesterday (2 pieces for each of us) and my aunt made a no bake cheesecake for the birthday celebrant of the household.
I will probably offer to help him eat the cheesecake, if only because he is pre-diabetic and doesnt need too much sweets.

Anything that combines cream cheese and chocolate is bound to be good. Wish I could drop by for a slice while it's still warm.

@CarolDM You got me in the mood to bake...I have a pumpkin cheese cake in the oven. Haven't made this before, but I combined my favorite recipes for pumpkin pie and cheese cake, then swirled them together. I'll let you know if it's edible or not!

@CarolDM I'll have to check and see when the 49ers and Raiders are playing today. But I have music this afternoon. So my football watching will be limited to this morning. IF I have power. The light breeze has turned into 30 mph winds out there. I have literally never experienced winds like this before here in CA.

I came home from work on Thursday after working late doing inventory. I immediately smelled brownies baking. I saw the empty box on the counter. I went to my wife and gave her a big hug, and said to her, "Sweetie you are so cute. You are making brownies for your hard working husband, and you KNOW how I love brownies." She kissed me softly, smiled back, and said, "They're for my co-workers at work..."

During the years I worked, I often made treats for co-workers and my husband joked about them being for him. And sometimes they were. Did your wife let you have a couple of brownies?
