Clinical uses of TZDs constantly result in reduced insulin requirements in patients of type 2 diabetes. It also reduced plasma insulin level of the patients. The preclinical effects of TZDs are restoring beta cell insulin content. This is also preventing loss of beta cell mass in patients of type 2 diabetes.
All of the TZDs sharply increase HDL (high density lipoprotein) Cholesterol and modestly increase LDL (low density lipoprotein) cholesterol in the patients of type 2 diabetes. This is also decreasing the triglycerides levels of the patients. TZDs are also effect in our vascular function. Moreover it is reduce the intima-media thickness that means the vascular wall. Most important it is decrease the blood pressure. Decreasing blood pressure is strongly good for cardio system. Metformin is also good for maintain normal blood glucose level.
TZDs are effect in our blood also; it is reduce some platelet from patients of type 2 diabetes. Anemia was reported in 1% of patients treated with TZDs. Hemoglobin decreased 2% to 3% within first 4 to 12 weeks and then remain stable.
