Just read a post JJ wrote about today being National Black Cat Day.
The Dude says thank you very much for celebrating him and his other black cat myLot friends, including Scar, Sonny, and Doodles.
I remember when I adopted him, he had been at the shelter many months. And was about to be put to sleep. I was told black cats are the least adoptable. How sad is that.
The crazy stories told about hem bringing bad luck. I do not believe it for a minute. The Dude is like a big teddy bear.
The Dude is asleep at my feet on a blanket as I type. So glad I could give him a loving forever home.

And my favorite color hair, is black! When Kobe was at the animal shelter, I was told the black puppies aren't in demand, while all the brown pups go like hotcakes:) This puzzled me, because Kobe is the best dog I've ever owned!
Color shouldn't make any difference at all, but it does

Black cats are the sweetest cats. They are usually the most cuddly as well.
One of my 'furnephews" is a black cat and he loves being held like a baby and forehead kisses. He can be a bit of a butthead when he jumps up on things he knows hes not supposed to be on, but he's usually a sweet and cuddly critter.

I owned a black cat and she was a big hit with the neighborhood kids trick or treating on Halloween. She would sit on her window perch and watch all the action, lol.

@CarolDM He looks very like my Mephistopheles ('Misty' for short), though Misty is not a 'teddy bear'! He's affectionate and very gently and loves his strokes and ear-tickles but he doesn't like being picked up or hugged. He also came to me (three years ago) because no one else wanted a black kitten.
Whilst I was out yesterday eating a Chicken Dhansak with my brother at a local Indian Restaurant (and very good it was, too), my grand-daughter arrived with a...

You surely enjoy your time with Dude- and what a cool name!!
Yes, black cats are associated with superstitions. But one should not accept such beliefs blindly.

Stupid superstitions cause so many problems for black kitties. I love black cats and think they are so beautiful. He needs extra treats and pets to celebrate today!

He is adorable and that is great to have a day just for black cats. I think I read that black cats are the least adaptable. Why is that? They are very beautiful furry ones. Thank you for saving him. They do not bring bad luck at all. I am so glad you gave him a loving home too.
