Just For Fun...Jobs

Sometimes it's fun to see what people have done for work over the years. I started working when I was 14 for Dominos Pizza putting circulars on doors for $2.50 an hour. After that here were all the places I have worked. Bruno's Family Restaurant in Muncie, Indiana doing dishes. That job did not last long, but I was only in Muncie for a short time. Then it was Hardees in Edwardsville, Illinois. I also had some short stints at Shop N' Save, a grocery store, and Zip's Drive-Thru, a fast food chain similar to Rally's. Then it was off to Jack In The Box before I joined the United States Navy and did four years serving. Next up was a short stint delivering newspapers for the Milwaukee Journal before taking a job at Quad Graphics first as a line worker in the co-mail department, and finally inkjet operator on a binder. Next up was Kraft Pizza Company where we made DiGiorno, Jack's, and Tombstone. Then it was off to Coca-Cola Enterprises—spent 6 1/2 years there. A couple of short stints at both Smurfit-Stone Box Company and Nestlé. Then four and a half years at Batzner Pest Management doing pest control. Still not sure after so many years in manufacturing I wound up doing that, but there I was killing bugs and trapping animals. The past five years I have worked for a company that sells concrete mixer truck parts and concrete batch plant parts—I am in sales. What are some jobs you have done or had?

Wow, you've done lots of different things. All my jobs have been horse-related, mostly racehorses. Even now at nearly 80 I still work in the industry - I work on the turnstiles selling entrance tickets at the racecourse.

Sounds like a cool array of jobs. I have worked at a dry cleaners, a retail department store, a flower shop, 911, and various government positions now.

Wow, That's quite a range. Lets see, Avon Lady .... I don't wear makeup so that didn't last. Car Hop for A&W Rootbear, I got fired. Then I went to business college and learned to be a Keypunch operator. My first job after that stint was as a Microfilm Operator, Printers Assistant and Tape Librarian back when computers still used megnetic tape. That job lasted 3.5 years. I worked with a lot of those temp services like Kelly Girls and Manpower and finally got jobs as a keypunch operator and ended up with my first real full time job as a Keypunch Operator, it lasted a year and back I went to temp services. My last job lasted 24 years, I was a data entry operator and ended with record specialist. I've retired from that and boy am I happy to be retired.

Wow that is definitely a lot for a lifetime. You do get around. I wish I had started working young and saved. I started at 22 in a company that supplies battery to the entire country for a year, then moved to the local government and has been there for years. I want to leave and find something new but I dont know if I can find a job at 40 years old
