The short lived wig job

At the age of 16, the moment I could, I left home and school. I got jobs demonstrating various products. Finally, I landed a job for a wig company called Steiner. We had to wear a purple dress and part of the job was to wear the wigs as well as help people buy them. Few people came into the up market store and I always thought the person trying the wig on looked better without the wig. My styling abilities were not the best either. The wigs were uncomfortable, and it really freaked me out to be ignored in the street at lunchtime by people I knew. This job was made bearable by extremely long tea breaks and by mutual agreement it ended several weeks in. To the credit of the company, they still paid me. To this day, I have hated wigs of any kind unless they are worn for medical reasons like hair loss. Have you ever had a job you hated because you had to be someone different from who you are?

It's so funny to have such a job when people could not recognize you.

I don't think I have had this experience. Wigs are much better now than they ever used to be.

They probably are but I am not going to try and find out. I shudder at the idea. Just hope I never go bald!
