The title of this post refers to a Donny Osmond song titled “Go Away, Little Girl”. This was the song that rose to number one for Osmond when he was thirteen years old on September 11, 1971. It was at this time that he became a teen idol and this became his first solo hit. It was a time in the 1970s that lots of girls sighed over many different teen idols. I was lucky that all of my girlfriends and I were in love with David Cassidy so we could sigh over the same music. However, one girlfriend did love Donny Osmond so I also got to listen to plenty of his music. Osmond’s career began at the tender age of five in the early 1960s when he sang with the family’s barbershop quintet. Later when his brothers Alan, Wayne, Merrill, and Jay became a pop band known as The Osmonds Donny joined them. They became popular with their number one hit “One Bad Apple”. Osmond found himself becoming the lead singer. When Donny Osmond struck out on his own he sang love songs that had all the teenage girls batting their eyes and sighing over him. Some of his most popular songs include “Puppy Love”, “Too Young” and “The Twelfth of Never”. His last hit was Elvis’s “Are You Lonesome Tonight”. Osmond returned on the music scene in 1988 with “Soldier of Love”. These days Donny Osmond performs in Las Vegas nightclubs, tours with Broadway musicals and hosts syndicated TV chat and game shows. Today he’s 61 years old, the father of five grown boys and has even become a grandfather. Was anybody a Donny Osmond fan?

I remember him singing as a young child. I enjoyed his songs, even when he struck out on his own. I watched his show with his sister Marie. Though I was never a fan, I enjoyed his music.

I really loved this song. He's done well to still be doing what he's so good at.

Donny Osmond and David Cassidy were popular when I was older; so I wasn't a fan.

I checked the link and I never heard of this song. I must say, her voice is soothing to my ears.
