Bobby Vee who became an American singer, songwriter, and musician was not doing too well in getting into the world of rock and roll. However, he finally had good luck on September 18, 1961, when he recorded Carole King’s song ”Take Good Care of My Baby” and it rose to the top of the pop charts in the U.S. His lucky star ascended on the day tragedy struck rock and roll two years earlier.
February 3, 1959, became as Don McLean, later on, wrote – the Day the Music Died. That day three successful and well-known musicians died when their plane crashed into an Iowa field. They were Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. ”The Big Bopper” Richardson who had been heading for the next show on the Winter Dance Party 1959 Tour.
Bobby Vee was looking forward to attending the show. At this time he was 15 years old, was known as Bobby Velline and had just formed his first band. As the news of this horrible tragedy broke all across the U.S. the organizers of the show decided that it would not be cancelled. Then just 18 months after the tragedy that silenced three of rock and roll’s best and gave Bobby Vee his chance brought him to record ”Take Good Care of My Baby”. It gave him stardom and the songwriting team of Gerry Goffin and Carole King their second number one hit.
This was Bobby Vee's first and only #1 hit. Released on August 7th,1961, it immediately began to climb up the Billboard Charts, and by September 18th, 1961 i...

I love that song. It's one of the songs played in our JS Prom when I was still a Junior high school student sometimes in the late 60s.

It seems that old songs still remain in the heart of those who love them. How old was "Yesterday"?

That song was very popular during my younger years. But I didn't know the singer until now.

I wasn't really into that kind of music and though the names are familiar the voices aren't as distinct as the ones I did like.
