SOCCER( the real FOOTBALL) is head and shoulders above american rugby(rugby+pads n armour + somethings i dunno) in terms of skill, beauty, elegance and pace. I have tried to like the NFL, but i never get any real pleasure from it..RUGBY is a whole lot better for me....but then again american rugby is another 'only in america' thing

The answer to this seems to depend on what country you are from. In the USA, football is probably the most popular sport of all, for playing and watching. We also have soccer, but it's not as big as football is.

kicking a ball is the most effective though you will get a red card

If you want to watch a real football game try Aussie Rules, it's fast, dangerous (no poofter body armour) and demands a high degree of skill -- the ball is eliptical so the bounce is hard to predict. It involves kicking and hand passes, catching (taking a mark),and occasionally an out and out brawl which can involve both entire teams.(36 men on the field) Faster than rugby, more skillful than soccer and more dangerous than gridiron.

Football (soccer) is the best. Just can't compare with men wearing every protection under the sun running around in tight pants, even Rugby beats that hands down.
