Might Go Back To HubPages A Bit

It has been several years since I have written for HubPages, but I still receive residual income from things I have written in the past. The site is still alive and well, and it seems they have a pretty good payment system in place with both Google ads and their own ads—it looks like some money can be made there.
It is still largely (or at least it appears to be) a you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours kind of a site. In other words, unless you are interacting with others within the site your articles will not get much attention.
It IS a more labor intense site in that you have to do actual writing there. The articles have to be much lengthier and have some substance, and articles tend to take much longer to research and write.
I am thinking of doing one evergreen article a week on various topics just to see if the site still has any legs and if I can make any monetary inroads there.
Anyone writing for HubPages actively right now? Thoughts? Issues? Concerns? Advice?
Thanks in advance.

I've been on Hubpages for a few years now. I passed the million view threshold earlier this year, and get a respectable payout each month. You're right that to be successful there you have to put in the time and effort to write quality articles. But, as you've discovered, the reward is that articles you wrote years ago can be a continuing revenue stream with little additional effort.
There is no "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" element on Hubpages. In fact, that approach won't do you any good since article revenue depends on external views via search engines or social media. There are no "like" buttons, so there's no way in which engaging with others on the site can increase revenues to your articles.

@RonElFran how long have you written for them before you passed the million view threshold?

I wrote there in the past and have thought a few times to go back there but like you say it is more time consuming and most times I just don't have the time to spend there trying to make a worth while post/article. I really never made to much there. I think I hit payout once there.

I would never go back there. Some years back a post was submitted by someone called Thomas Swann about Bubblews. I happened to mention that I always got paid by them and all hell let loose! They deduced from that comment that I was in league with Arvind (who didn't even know I existed). I was hounded until I decided enough was enough and left. You might even be able to bring up the post. It was pages long .. haha I found it It's rather long but you can pick out the bits that said I was in league with the owner. Laughable really.
Is Bubblews a scam? Many experiences are collated. A simple experiment determines if `breaking the rules' is really the reason behind withheld payments.

That is part of the problem for me. Evergreen articles are, for me, forced writing. They are not nearly as fun to write as the things I am passionate about like money, politics, opinion pieces, and whatnot. But evergreen articles do generate the most revenue no matter where you write. So, if money is the goal, sometimes they just have to be done.

@Michellekidwell Very true. Most people buy it in jars. I guess if I jarred mine I could make an even bigger fortune.

Hubgpages was never very profitable for me, but then I never really spent a lot of time and effort there. I remember when you used to put amazon products on there in strategic places. I believe that there are still a few people here who have done some things with it somewhat recently. Either that or I am imagining things.
I would say it's worth a shot.
Can you not ping search engines with the link?

I wrote for a while there but that was ages ago, I've been inactive ever since. I know many people are quite successful writing there but it didn't seem to work for me.

I used to write for HubPages. It's one of the few writing sites that has managed to stay afloat. Keep writing. They're a safe source of some income for you.
