For my son. They're going to have a three-day school retreat on the 20th and we were asked to write a secret letter to him which he will read during the retreat.
During the weekend, my brother and husband went away on a trip to attend a gun show. And they returned bearing gifts. One of the presents I received is a Pilot Metropolitan fountain pen which isn't that expensive but great for fountain pen for beginners. And I used this pen to write the letter to my son.
While I was writing, memories of the past came flooding back. The day I gave birth to him, the labor pain I went through, the first time I held him in my arms, his naughtiness as a toddler. My son is a teenager now and he's quickly turning into an adult. I am just glad that I was with him through all this time.
When was the last time you wrote a love letter?

Oh yeah the palanca letters, I used to write a lot of it to my son and my wife when they have their own retreats. I think it is a fun way to write those since you also tend to reflect as well so in the process you become part of the retreat as well.

@toniganzon yup if you’re son is in a Catholic school they will require parents family and friends to write palanca letters. I do think that would help them truly appreciate the retreat.

Yes it's the Palanca letter. When he was in grade 6 they had the same and now that he's in grade 10, another letter and this time it's different as he is already in his teenage years.

it's so good of the school to do that. it will be a wonderful loving surprise for the students.
i can now see how you write longhand also.maybe if i wrote a bit daily, my handwriting will go back to being legible. i tend to write in print/block letters now.

I rarely write in that style anymore unless with a brush pen.

I actually haven't tried that yet and you know what, I guess, it's a nice idea. Imma try it for Christmas along with small presents for my loved ones.

I used to write a lot when I was in elementary school. I wrote to pen pals and I would write a short note to my mom to tell her how much I love her.

I hope he would treasure it and I hope that what I wrote would pierce into his heart.
