My childhood friend and diabetes

The picture was taken on Buddy's 70th birthday this summer. He said that he was a health freak since age 50. But every annual checkup, the result would show a rising FBS (fasting blood sugar). He turned to the Ampalaya or bitter gourd (that I know is a myth). But the rise in FBS continued so now he was declared diabetic.
As they say in the drinking session - drink and you die, don't drink and you also die. So let's just drink.

By controlled diet maybe? My father was doing that before his kidneys got affected

@Deepizzaguy diabetes is really on the top of the list now that we are always reminded of our lifestyle.

Today it seems that the diabetes is a common disease. Perhaps it is something wrong with our diet or lifestyle. As long as you pay attention to the diet, suitable exercises and regular medicine, this disease is not so horrible. If I am not mistaken, your friend is 70 years old? He looks healthy and actually he looks much younger

@Alexandoy In fact I don't think the doctors can find the real reasons as some people who have bad lifestyles but can still stay healthy. But it is common for people to blame the diet and exercises when they can't find the reasons.

@youless it can be the lifestyle but it can also be genetic which means you will have it no matter what you do.

You are right that diabetes is prevalent. I still don't have an opinion why.

@JudyEv my sister-in-law who is a nurse said that insulin is better than metformin (maintenance meds) because insulin has no side effect.

@amitkokiladitya the problem sometimes is that the person is so concerned of his health that he avoids some food and then he also gets sick.
