I'm a 55 year old single white man who lives in Niantic, Connecticut USA. I lost my 18 year old job on October 03, 2019 because I punched a fellow employee. Work can be stressful at times and you have to keep your cool at all times and swallow your pride sometimes. I failed miserably on both counts and I'm paying the price for my shameful and embarrassing actions.

My car key broke yesterday and got stuck in the ignition. I took a pair of pliers and yanked it out of the ignition. However, I believe the ignition needs to be fixed because the part of the key that didn't break won't fit in the ignition slot. I had to pay $140.00 for a tow truck to take me to the car service center. A bad day for me yesterday. Withdrawing money from my saving account just to pay daily and weekly living expenses. I'm in a bad place right now.

You took it so well in my point of view. But people are more sensitive now and this happened. 18 years is a very long time. I believe he will get his karma in the end.

My neighbor said the same thing when I told him about it. Thanks for your understanding.

So sorry to hear about losing your job. That has been a long years of service and you lost it because you lost your temper and hurt someone at work. But I salute you for standing up for the mistakes you commit and be brave enough to tell everyone how sorry you are in committing that act. against a fellow co-worker. Have you hit him bad that you caused it to lose your job. I sincerely hope you could still find a job a after that so you won't need to be financially incapacitated right now.

I've been applying to many places. I did land a job as an independent contractor for Grubhub. I'm a food delivery driver. However, it's like delivering newspapers or babysitting. It's just a side gig but it's better than nothing. I didn't hurt the guy that I punched. However, zero tolerance for violence. I expected to be fired after I did it. I'm an older guy: 55 years old and I believe that I have a learning disability as well.

It could have been worse as he could have pressed charges.

@squaresocks
There must have been a reason why you punched him?

That happens. Why didn't they give you a warning?

@Hannihar They have zero tolerance for that sort of behavior. Other people at work who don't know me that well were frightened. It's just unacceptable behavior.

Loss of a job. Loss of income. Loss of self-confidence.

Sorry to hear it. That is a big loss to you over an idiot person who you would have been better to ignore but sometimes it is nearly humanly impossible. I wish you blessings.

I just didn't like his condescending, snotty attitude but I never should've hit him.

The guy must have gotten overboard for you to control yourself. It's not easy to let go an 18 year old job for that situation.
