It is so troubling that mental health issues like depression is on the rise in my country, Kenya. The media is filled with stories of people committing suicide or killing their closest people because of depression and mental health problems. Most of them are men and it is so disturbing as femicide is on the rise. Many say that it is mainly caused by the poor economy in the country due to high unemployment. Something needs to be done but I don't know what. What can you suggest will help with this problem?

It's not only in your country. I had read a UN report that mild depression is getting prevalent worldwide. One psychologist said that it might be the internet that is a contributory factor.

I don't think the internet helps when it comes to depression in our world either.

@MainerMikeBrown but it still depends on the situation. There are forums that provide support for those who need psychological support.

@Alexandoy I agree, it does depend on the situation. I've found the internet to be a good thing for me, as I like commenting to MyLot as well as many online forums, including online forums for those with mental illness. It's therapeutic for me. Unfortunately, the internet isn't so good for some other people, however.

A lot of stress is due to the rising expenses, and a constant struggle to catch up with those expenses. Also, social media sites and Apps and a habit of being too active on them also leads to more stress and even depression.
