You should plan a special day for you and him to do something he enjoys. What are his hobbies or interests? You could go off that. Does he like sports? Listening to music. You could go see a sports game or attend a concert. Or even have a picnic if that's what what enjoys.

Depending on his likes and dislikes...decide on something he may really need (like something for work or school or to better his life in some kind of way)....or something he has really been wanting that is affordable to you. If money is an issue....a nice love letter about how you feel about him and his favorite home cooked meal or go out to dinner at his favorite place...just make the day all about him....
