Petty crime inside the church

Quiapo church in Manila is very popular hence it is always packed with people. As I was exiting the church, there was this boy running to the exit. He was chased by a community police. Unfortunately for the boy, the police caught him right at the exit. I heard that the boy tried to steal something from a person praying in the church. The vendors knew the boy but they don't want to give the name to the police. Snippets from Manila huh. That's the way life is in that city.

Thief is everywhere either small or big. The grand thieves are elected by people.

You gave me a laugh with that harsh reality of the grand thieves in the government offices.

@mlgen1037 I'm just sad that at a young age those kids have learned to take advantage of the innocent people.

Oh that is such disappointing that the people seem to protect the pickpocket. Instead of teaching the boy a lesson he will get more emboldened to do it since he knows he is being protected by the people around it.

@Alexandoy I guess she is family. Since they ate minors they would not even get to worry him being incarcerated.

@rsa101 minors do not go to jail and unless the crime is something major like stabbing, the child would always be released after questioning.

I was waiting for the flower vendor to castigate the boy but no, she was trying to protect the identity of the boy.

What a shame! We have seen so many little kids begging or trying to steal on our travels.

I thought even thieves would not steal inside a church.

That's what I thought too. But some people really have no respect for religion.

I guess the bigger the city the more incidents of petty crime.

I think so too and I don't agree that committing that crime of stealing is due to poverty, no Ma'am, that certainly is not the case. The criminal boy just wants to take advantage of innocent people.

Thieves and robbers do no choose the place to do their nefarious activity - even the church is hunting ground for them.

It really pains me to see that boy being arrested but it pains me more to think of the parents, what were they doing to their boy.

@sunrisefan you are right, I also have that notion that the boy is learned in stealing techniques.

@Alexandoy Sometimes though, these boys are used by mature hoodlums to do their trade for them.

@amitkokiladitya but I think thieves will always be with us. They are about greed and taking advantage of others.

It's good that a policeman could talk to him, maybe he will learn the lesson and stop stealing.

Very unfortunate because the boy has learned to commit crime at that early age.

@Alexandoy I hope he has the opportunity to learn from this and not do it again
