The wisdom of my grandmother

When I was still a student, my grandma who was more than 65 years old usually make the mistake in pronouncing names and places. An example is the former president Macapagal, she would say Macapangal. That would elicit roaring laughter from her grandchildren. But one time she said that she was doing the variation deliberately so she would know if we were listening to what she was saying. If we find the mistake then that means we were listening.
When I posted the discussion about the SCRAM site, there were reactions that obviously was referring to Scam. That means they were not paying attention since they did not notice that it was Scram and not SCAM. Oh well, Grandma was right, make a variation so that you will know if people are reading it correctly.

Grandma always had that wisdom. And now I am using that wisdom of your grandma in my therapy sessions to develop attention and listening skills in children.

Children will surely listen when you talk not in the normal way.

@arunima25 it is not easy to teach children especially the young ones because the problem is not in understanding but in focus. They are always out of focus on the lesson.

@Alexandoy Yes. We make a lot of fun activities around listening to sharpen their listening skills. It's fun and they like it.

It is true that the grandchildren would ignore the oldies.

That's an interesting thought. Your grandmother was pretty clever to do that.
