ROCK AND ROLLLLLLL! WHOO HOOO! Be One of Us continues, a random countdown of 50 songs with "of" in the title. We are at #20: "Queen of the Reich" by Queensryche. It's the answer to a trivia question that, had I been paying attention, could have won me a prize. Back in 1991, Seattle's premier heavy metal band, Queensryche, released their Operation: Livecrime concert DVD, a live performance of their boffo concept album, Operation: Mindcrime, in it's entirety. One of Colorado Springs' rock FM stations hosted a World Premier showing on a huge screen at Arnold Hall on the Air Force Academy, and my buddy won four tickets. We all ate a bunch of shrooms, and they were kicking in pretty hard when about ten or fifteen hot girls walked in and all sat down in the same row. Which prompted me to ask, "Do these chicks all know each other, or did they just happen to all sit in the same row?" Because we were tripping on mushrooms, this question was apparently hilarious, and we all started discussing it in detail. "What are the odds of 15 hot girls knowing each other?" "Well, what are the odds of 15 hot girls that don't know each other sitting in the same row?" "How do they know each other?" Meanwhile, prizes are being given away. "Who can tell me how Queensryche got their name?" "What if these girls all just happened to arrive at the same time and all came through the same door and automatically all headed for the same row?" "Queensryche named themselves after their song, "Queen of the Reich." "Dammit, I knew that. Stupid mushrooms." 80's metal at it's finest! (Info verified by Wikipedia)

It's a much more effective name than their previous name, "The Mob."

I really love Queensryche. When I used to get vocal training, "eyes of the stranger" was one in my list. Really a great band. Love Goef Tett!

He is one of my favorite vocalists. By the way, their new album is really good.
