Lesson about love and kindness

Lithuania
December 9, 2019 11:24am CST
I am grateful for life every day - for all the joys and trials I have been given. Without them, I would not have become who I am. And recently it was another wonderful day - I found the owner of a lost dog. While the puppy was living with me, I loved him so much, and when I needed to give him away, I even cried. But I'm happy because I have another lesson about love and kindness. How was your day? Something special? Photo credit: mine

I'm glad you found his owner. It's always sad when you need to give up something you've come to love, especially pets. I'm glad you found love and kindness in the experience.

I got up and started working. But I am meeting a friend later. Thanks for helping the puppy find his people.

Yes, it is great when things work out like this. We also found a stray dog once, which followed us home to our house, and would not leave again after that. We put it in our backyard, and it too was very friendly towards us. Unfortunately, (although, I didn't know this at the time, that it would turn out to be unfortunately. I was just thinking that this was the right thing for me to do) I contacted our local council, and this gruff-looking lady came out to pick it up from us. I had a bad feeling about this, as soon as I saw the woman. She looked rough, and mean. She tied the dog up with a rope around its neck, and she took it away. She never even had a proper dog lead with her. We heard that this dog was later put down, as are most stray dogs, by the inconsiderate council pound here, who never even contacted us again, to see if we would like to keep this dog, if they couldn't find the rightful owner. When we did contact them ourselves after a week, or two, the nasty desk person told us it is their policy to keep the dog for a week or two, but if the owner cannot be located, it's put down then, as they have no funding to look after it any longer than that.

OMG, so sad. I know, similar things are dome here too with all stray dogs. I did not go this way. Our city has a page in Fb "lost things", so I put the photo of the dog, wrote where I found him and asked if someone lost him. It took a few days till owner came to take his dog. After your story, I am happy I did not inform a proper institution, who knows what could happen with a poor dog.

@lillywriter Yes. You certainly took the better option, I think. Your story had a great ending, mine did not.

I'm so glad you found the owner; but I'm sorry you had to give up the dog. Nothing going on here today. Just rain.

It's so nice that the owner came up, it must have been sad to say goodbye but what you did was nice because they must have missed the dog very much

@lillywriter I did a very nice thing by finding the dog's owner. I can see why you would cry. It would be hard for me to give a furry one up too.
