You gotta make a mess before things can be pretty. Day one of the remodeling project was yesterday. In six short hours my bathroom was reduced to NOTHING. Floor? GONE. Sink? HISTORY. Toilet? Sitting in the hallway. Bathtub? Grabbed by a neighbor. Today the work has been going for about an hour. The new wall is up, and the new tub is sitting outside in the driveway. And here I was, bragging I’d have indoor plumbing! I can’t use the tub tonight, either. Everything has to set, cure, whatever they call it, for 24 hours. But they’re making great progress!!!

@JudyEv — okay, since you’ve had to endure all that stuff from the flat earth people about how Australia doesn’t exist, I’ll give you a sneak peak.

@cperry2 — this is an old house (built in 1950), and I’ve lived here for 30 years. This is the first thing I’ve done in terms of major remodeling work. The guy who took up the floors said there were places where he found FIVE layers.

@FourWalls Yeah, it reminds me of something I remember seeing in a neighbors house as a kid. (That was a looooooong time ago.)

Gives a new meaning to the expression “down the rabbit hole.” Seriously, they re-installed the toilet before they left yesterday.

No, I have camping supplies. Plus, they put the toilet back before they left.

@FourWalls See how much trouble is saved with an outhouse? Never have to worry about a bathroom reno.

@JohnRoberts — doesn’t cost fourteen grand to dig a new hole, either.

It took close to 2 years, a lot of work and a lot of inconvenience but my apartment was done over completely! This was a 80 year old building and all looks new!

Indeed they are. Are you getting to having the wall tile replaced as well?

Only so far. The tile stayed in the “front” part of the bathroom.

@FourWalls We ripped everything out of our two bathrooms. The colours were hideous, and we went with far more interesting styles. One was all done in peach and avocado green, and I hated it. The other was all in greys and yellows. I hated that one too.
