My first to move to I was renting a room in a house in the basement of a divorced lady and her two preteen kids. We were all pretty quiet. I had a room in the basement which I pretty much just stayed in most of the time when I was home. Except for when I would go upstairs to get food or put groceries away. I had a private bathroom downstairs too. She said that I could use this one corner in the big laundry room for storage. I went out early one Saturday morning on the 27th of the month and met a friend , we went back there a few hours later to see they were having a yard sale with my belongings! I asked her why she went into my stuff in storage and in my room and was selling a lot of my stuff and she said because I had not paid the rent yet! Huh? it wasn't even due yet! I called the police they came out and took a report while she was still there selling my stuff! And they said that they would be in touch. My friend got a truck and we removed what I had left and went to my mom's house. I never heard from the police and when I would call them I was told that someone would call me. Never happened. I lost a lot of my late grandmother's antique china, clothes, some furniture, other dishes and keep sakes. I found out a few months later that the landlady was dating the police chief, she sold the house and they all moved away from this area!
