One Less Shirt to Worry About

The shirt you see in the photo my husband wore on Thanksgiving is still in Connecticut at our cleaners.
Of all the shirts sent in for laundering and pressing, all were ready in time to pack for Florida except for this one shirt.
The cleaners apologized and told him it would be ready the next day, but that was too late. They agreed to keep it for six months until our return.
My husband doesn’t care about that shirt, anyway. It’s now way too big on him. He’s lost a lot of weight since last February.
Have you ever gone to pick up something from the dry cleaners and found it wasn’t ready?

I have a very nice shower curtain that is dry clean only. I took it in and they shrunk it! It was so short and ruined.
No, I have not used once since.

@andriaperry I’m surprised you weren’t reimbursed for it, Most cleaners are so nice about things like that.

I haven't taken anything to the dry cleaners in years.
Lovely picture and it's easy to see your hubby has lost weight.

@DianneN Wool and silk can be washed in cool water using special detergent such as Woolite - do you have that there?
Even things that say 'dry-clean only' can almost always be washed if you are careful enough - my mother taught me that!
Woolite® laundry detergent helps keep clothes looking like new and won't cause stretching, shrinking or fading. Visit our site for a $3 coupon, and share with your friends to get a free sample of Woolite.

@Fleura Yes, I use Woolite on fine washables.
Most of my silks are lined and my wools are cashmeres. I’ve ruined several items of clothing back in the day. Now I only wear high end designer clothing and would be afraid to ruin them.
Our cleaner is chemical free and worth every penny.

It's too bad. My wife knows on how I get angry when my personal belongings would be lost. She's extra careful about it.

I have not taken anything to the dry cleaners in a long time and I can't remember ever having an issue the few times I did. Well, I did have an issue once when they were hemming some pants for me. They did one leg but not the other and it was a good thing I tried them on before leaving the place. They did apologize and asked if I could come back in an hour they would have them ready. I came back and they were ready and they didn't charge me at all.
Hope they still have the shirt in 6 months when you return.

Once my clothes were not washed, but I never took them to the laundry. They are delivering to my house.

I had the experience of having our clothes washed at the laundromat twice.
So far, they returb the clothes as they promised when.
Our clothes are washed on a weekend by our long time laundrywoman. She uses the washing machine.
However, two of my favorite blouses got lost.
I only remembered them some weeks after when I want to uae it again.
I am not blaming the laundrywoman nor the ironing lady but I am angry that they were lost despite my best effort of looking at it from our cabinets and drawers.

@DianneN I am thinking of that. However, i ruled.out the laundrywoman because she always returns a bill we left on the pockets of our pants. But those were long ago.
Now, it seems no money is returned to us despite our being more forgetful already.

@DianneN I don't own a suit or a sports jacket. If I need one or the other, I will just rent one! lol
I'm a jeans and t-shirt guy, so I don't have clothes that would need to be dry-cleaned. If I can't wash it, dry it, and then wear it, I won't buy it. I'm a simple guy.

Your husband has lost weight, he looks very nice. One shirt won't create a problem, as long as he brought enough to wear in Florida. Jay takes the dry cleaning in and I occasionally pick it up.

Thank you. I’m so happy he lost weight and kept if off. Hopefully, he will lose more down here.
He has a closet full of shirts down here. I asked him why on earth he’d want to bring down even more. Variety was his answer. Lol! Men! And he complained about the amount I shipped.

I remember when I was first traveling, not getting things when I needed them meant I had to buy shirts where I landed. I ended up with 3 weeks worth of clothes!
