Do you have chop sticks in your house?

I learned from my Thai friend that not all Thais use chop sticks when they eat. Japanese and Chinese usually do. I'm not sure about Filipinos, even though my Filipino friend always offers me food when I visit him. Indians? I don't think so. I just had a delicious breakfast of leftover sushi from last night. It should get me through to lunch. I used chop sticks (cheap wooden ones) and realized I have several pairs in my utensil drawer. Do you have chop sticks in your house? I'm addicted to Asian food in general, so it makes sense that I do.

Indians do not use chopsticks, Filipinos use forks and spoons like we do. Japanese chop sticks are shorter than Vietnamese and Chinese chop sticks, I know I have the two different sets at home.

@Ronrybs Yes they are shorter and less pointy that the Vietnamese and Chinese chopsticks. Now that I think about this I do not know the reason, but I am going to research.

Didn't know that Japanese sticks were shorted. Wonder how that came about

I have about 12 pairs of sticks. Should you be tempted, don't try to eat fried eggs and bacon with chop sticks, it is hard work!

I remember seeing Chinese people eating corn flakes with chopsticks, that looked like hard work too!

I do have a pair... fancy ones at that... but I don't use them anymore. To me, chopsticks are not sensible. Chapsticks, on the other hand...

Chapsticks make my lips feel all weird. But if I found the perfect flavor...

My daddy got some beautiful chopsticks in Japan back in the 60's. He gave them to my son.

It's fun to eat with chop sticks. It makes the experience last longer.

I never use chopsticks. I prefer to finish any meal on the same date I started it.

You obviously need more practice! And hold the bowl closer to your mouth, many Chinese people do that : )

@WorDazza You know that eating more slowly and chewing each mouthful more is a simple but effective way to avoid getting overly lardy?

@Fleura I've noticed that does seem to be the modus operandi for successful chopstick use. I find that holding the bowl close to the mouth and using a fork maximises my intake.

We don't have chopsticks. Neither of us have any expertise in using them so it seems pointless to have any. Although we could always practise I guess.

Is the Asian food good where you live? It "rocks" here in the Bay area.

@TheHorse I don't really think I'm a good judge. I like it but whether others would or not, I couldn't say.

@TheHorse it's use more than spoon and fork because lots of Chinese stay here and noodle is the 2nd carbs we eat after rice.

Indians don't use chopsticks. But I have a few. My elder daughter and husband use them very frequently. But for me and younger one, we tried few times and then failed.

I am a Filipino and Filipinos usually eat with their hands or with spoon and fork. I have chopsticks at home but I don´t use them. I will get hungry if I will use them. Funny to say, my husband and son know how to eat with chopsticks.
