It seems that I will start the jams on Sunday.

Tomorrow I will be cooking for Claudia and her family. They will fix the garden as much as they can and I will roast a chicken. Claudia also told me that she´d bring something to go with it, but I already made some rice. So on Sunday I´ll make my first pot of apricot jam. And on Monday I´ll place them in jars to be given away. Christmas is a lot of work here.

Don't you place the jam in the pots when it is still hot?

I do. But as on Sunday Leticia does not come and she has to give me the jars, I will make them tomorrow ( a little bit underdone) and then heat them again on Monday with Leticia.

@LadyDuck I close them by cutting out the oxygen with plastic wrap.

@marguicha I usually place it hot in the jars, close the lid and turn them upside down, so the lid perfectly closes.

I love the idea of making jam and giving it to people. It is so simple but so thoughtful.

My mother always made jams around Christmas time. We had several apricot trees which always had a lot of fruit.

When I was young, I made lots of different jams in summer. We had apricots for Christmas, but berries could be had all summer.

@Spontaneo I used to make other jams when I was young. I made lots of blackberry jam from berries that I had picked myself. Now I only use the tree I have at home.
