The Police were Summoned to Our House Up North

Someone from the utility company working on tree trimming noticed a figure dressed all in black at our home up north and had the good sense to call the police.
The police arrived quickly and questioned the person wearing a black knit cap, black jacket, black pants, black shoes, and even black gloves.
They quietly observed the white male entering our garage where our costly sports car was. The male then walked around our yard and had the nerve to go to our rock garden area where our precious kitties, Kuma and Doodles, are laid at rest.
After many questions, getting the intruder’s pertinent information, and the showing of identification, the police drove off.
The intruder was our younger son! He was in the garage installing a new front grill on our sports car. He also checked our mailbox, and of course, visited his two most favorite kitties for whom he still mourns.
It’s good to know someone was quick to call the police. It’s bad to wear all black.

Wow Glad it was not a bad person and it was your son. At least whoever called the police is looking out for your home.

@DianneN I thought when I started reading this it really was an intruder til I got to the part where you said it was your son. I bet he was but you can never be to safe anymore.

@Tina30219 I always fear an intruder. Thank goodness for good neighbors, our alarm, and our son.

He learned not to wear all black, but our home is his home, even if he has his own 1.8 miles up the road from us.
He was only there to check on the house and surprise us by ordering (we paid) and putting on a new front grill on the car. He could have just left it in the garage for my husband to install six months from now.

@lovinangelsinstead21 No, not a thought! He used to drive over in his pajamas at night to visit us. He lives less than 5 minutes away.

I'm glad this story had a happy ending. Being so many thousands of miles away having to deal with a break-in would have been a pretty troubling ordeal. It's also nice to know that people still care enough of suspicious activity to call it in. I'm sure your son learned the hard way about wearing all black in the future!

@DianneN I assume your son has keys to the place? He should have just said, "My parents live here, I have the keys, and if you want to verify please call them at their home in Florida." Should have been very simple. The police call you, you give them the name of your son, and it matches the name on his driver's license. Problem solved! lol

@moffittjc He did all that, but they finally believed him when he showed them his driver’s license. It matched the name on our mailbox. I would have had a heart attack if I saw a call on my caller I’d from our town police!

@kobesbuddy That was very astute of her. Glad Bruce wasn’t beating the heck out of you. I volunteered at a shelter for women of domestic abuse. It could be very ugly and scary.
They say the police are our friends. I would like to think so.

@DianneN One time my elderly neighbor woman called the police. She thought someone was possibly hurting me! When the policeman arrived, I was dumbfounded. Bruce had come to pick up the children, they were screeching 'No, Daddy! No, Daddy!' He was kidding around in the kitchen, tickling their ribs or something like that and they were reacting, to this. RoseMary thought Bruce was possibly hurting their mother! The policeman and I thanked her, for being such a caring neighbor.

@DianneN my daughter watches our house when we are gone and the twins are with us. Luckily she just has to point to pictures on the wall and say that is me!

I doubt my son let the police into our home. He could have pointed us out, too.

@DianneN A quick call to you would have cleared it up. Unless you wanted to be mean to him for a few minutes.

That's good. Your police is quick to respond for a call. Ours is too different. It will take several hours for them to take action.

That’s awful! By then the intruder would be long gone!
Our house is not far from our little center of town where the police station is located. By the time they are called, they can intercept anyone driving our winding road. It’s the only road out.
